Distinguished Gentleman's Drive Motul Awards

The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive was an incredible success with money raised for the Movember Charity. More to come on all the fun soon.

There's still time to donate to here.

As a Sponsor Motul gave away $250+ product prizes on the day and with so many impressive machines we had the difficult job of narrowing the field.

Our first prize was the "Sliver linings; Motul Medic Kit" for the first breakdown, however with such a meticulous convoy everyone made it to the finish line at Ocean View Estates without a hitch. With tow trucks trailing the course up Mount Mee, they simply got to join in the fun this year!

There was one car who pulled over for a quick chat with the local brass... so they ultimately drove away with the 'Silver Linings Engine + Gear Oil Service Kit' to soften the blow of any upcoming registered mail. They will of course remain unidentified.

Then we had the fun of choosing the 'Motul Best Red' winner, and the competition was fierce. Corvette's, Mini's, Fiat's, Alpha Romeo's, Mustang Fastbacks, the carpark was stacked with worthy contenders.

Without taking the swatches out, the boys kept coming back to the 1968 Fiat Dino.

1968 Fiat Dino

The Fiat Dino made 1966 to 1973. The Dino name refers to the Ferrari Dino V6 engine, produced by Fiat and installed in the cars to achieve the production numbers sufficient for Ferrari to homologate the engine for Formula 2 racing.

The FIA 1967 new rules for Formula 2 engines were required to have no more than six cylinders, and to be derived from a production engine, from a road car homologated in the GT class, with at least 500 examples manufactured within 12 months.

The car makers would go on to produce the 500 engines needed in Spider and Coupe Bodies. Between 1966 and 1969, there were 3,670 2.0-litre Coupés and 1,163 2.0-litre Spiders made; with only 420 built, the 2400 Spider is the rarest of the Fiat's Dino's. Of the total 7,803 Fiat Dino produced, 74% were the popular Coupé and only 26% were spiders.
