Car Songs

I know that cars are only metal, plastic, rubber and several electronic bits. However many firmly believe they have a soul many of us have surely had an intimate relationship with one.

On pondering this topic I dug deep into my memory bank. Nostalgia almost overwhelmed me but I didn’t let emotions get the better of me.

Do you remember a bloke who drove a Chevy to a levee, but it was dry? Why did he go there and he must have been mentally unstable as this situation shouldn’t warrant what crossed his mind. Maybe he wasn’t dry and nor was the levee.

Earlier than this was a group who sang about driving in a car, smoking a cigar and only being happy whilst playing a guitar. A very strange and dangerous mixture. I would suggest substance abuse as the catalyst on this one.

Then look at “Get Outa My Dreams, Get Into My Car” which could be interpreted in different ways bordering on legality.

Lets leave off with “Joyride” with its sweet fantasy and harmless overtones.

There may even be some point to all of this-or not. Recently I saw a car where the owner had very neatly written Taylor above Swift - an interesting statement liaison.
