The French Connection

Motul is a French company operating from that country since 1953. Its origins were in the U.S.A. going back to 1853. This is interesting as they were producing oil before there were cars. However there were other mechanical engines which needed lubrication way back then or it may have simply been prophetic.

I’ve probably already said (fact check?) that this firm produced the first multi-grade oil into the European market in 1953, Century. This name could have all, or nothing to do with the company then being 100 years old. Unrivalled maths and mental powers operating here.

The French are a different lot, think Citroen-being both creative and inventive. So the multi-grade oil evolved into the first 100% synthetic multi-grade lubricant in 1971. Again a first.

There are certain mysteries beyond me as I don’t trust anything I can’t see. This creates numerous problems in modern times. I can only accept as true that synthetic lubricants, or just oil to the common man/person, have rounder molecules as different to the previous natural (mineral) oils which were sort of oblong. The later couldn’t be as friction free as the former and so weren’t as successful in squeezing into and through an engines internal, private parts.

There is a science involved in the understanding of lubrication. It’s called tribology and focuses on the addressing of wear for interacting surfaces to relative motion. I think this means a motor running as smoothly as possible, preferably for a long time. Sort of a time and motion study for oil nerd scientists. My theory is that a weird form of gravity exists here dealing with tremendous amounts of turning and swilling occurring within the sanctuary of a smallish metal structure also known as an engine.

Thing way beyond the mortal Sol.
